people died from flu in 1918 than were killed in the Great War of 1914-118.
This website explores the influenza epidemic that killed some 40 million
people worldwide. It is based on a 1998 PBS American Experience programme.
It includes reflections on the pandemic and its epidemiology, and a pathologist's
analysis of whether the same type of devastation could occur again.
For writers the site is of both historical and contemporary interest for reseach and for what if...? story background.
Included are audio files of interviews, and a timeline.
