Sligo County Libraries announces The Cathach.

The Cathach is an online literary magazine, to be published twice yearly in a summer and winter edition by Sligo County Libraries, with the aim of showcasing quality new writing in poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.

While honouring the literary traditions of Sligo and the northwest, The Cathach will feature work from both new and established writers throughout Ireland and abroad.

It aims to create an online reading-room where experienced and new writers will be made available to a vast readership around the world.

Submissions to The Cathach are now invited.
Short fiction or non-fiction up to 5,000 words will be considered.
Poems may be any length.
The next issue is summer 2009.
Submissions due by May 22, 2009.

A new venture in the promotion of literature, The Cathach can offer no payment for contributions but will include author details and works.
Authors retain all copyright in their work.
