Fifthestate

According to an onsite manifesto, Fifthestate is the idea of editors and authors at HarperCollins Press Books, borne out of a passion for the subjects around which they were publishing.

Fifthestate is a place where writers can go to post opinion and debate, try out new material, and where readers can fight back on all the issues that interest them, they said.

As far as possible they said they wanted to make everything open, free and good and they hoped people would get involved to help it shape and grow.

The website lists postings and further lists them within categories and such a site will live or fail by the amount and quality of contributions.

To begin with they were good, and a good start is half the work.

There are even podcasts available of interviews with published writers.
