Writersroom

Writersroom is the BBC's online resource for writing drama and comedy for television, radio and film.

The BBC's New Writer's initiative offers expert advice for writers seeking to have their scripts commissioned by the BBC. Also included is the Script Smart formatting tool, which offers a layout template so that your work will stand a better chance of being read.

Writersroom brings you information about writing opportunities and events, said the BBC, along with useful tips and chat from writers and other industry experts.

The Script Smart tool, created by Matthew Carless from the BBC's Writersroom, is a set of Microsoft Word templates for writers to format their scripts using industry-recognised layouts.

All Script Smart templates are supplied as a free accessory for writers and are not a prerequisite for the assessment of any submissions made to the BBC.

Other script-formatting templates are widely available said the BBC in fairness. So, make up your own mind.
