Whitbread book awards

The site gives you all you need to know about the prestigious annual Whitbread Prize, how much you could win and how a win affects subsequent sales figures.
It lists the judges, categories; shortlists; previous award winners and the Whitbread Book of the Year amongst other matters.

The total prize fund is £50,000. Each category winner receives £5,000, and the overall winner receives a further £25,000.

The Whitbread has five categories – first novel, novel, biography, poetry and children’s book. Your publisher must enter your book and publishers should register with the Booksellers Association to ensure they receive an entry form.

The Whitbread Literary Awards, as they were then known, were launched in 1971.
