Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Annaghmakerrig The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig was officially opened in 1981 as the first residential arts centre in Ireland. The Irish Big House is surrounded by 450 acres of forest and lake. Artists may stay for periods from a week to three months in the house; or for up to six months at a time in one of five self-catering houses in the old farmyard, depending on circumstances. It’s open to practitioners of all the arts. There is no age limit. The site has an application form to download together with a note on requirements on entitlement to stay at the centre.
