International PEN
is a membership association with 130 branches in more than 100 countries.
It provides an active and supportive focus in the home community for
writers and other professionals working in the literary sector.
The English Pen site is an information resource for PEN members and
for writers in general.
It lists events, highlights which writers are in prison, and where,
it has a list of PENs in other countries, and lists literacy prizes
that are administered by PEN.
Pen also promotes literacy and literature in under-served communities
and details of the programme are on the site.
