NewsDirectory

NewsDirectory is a US-based resource site that includes much of the English speaking world, including Ireland and the UK, in its trawl of online news.

A free search engine allows readers to search for colleges, broadcasters, newspapers and magazines by topic or by keyword.

The site claims access to millions of articles in thousands of publications all sorted by country and region.

So it is possible to access the hometown newspaper of somebody who is in the news, or even the hometown of a fictional character for authentic background.

Launched in 1995, NewsDirectory said it was one of the earliest providers of access to online newspapers and magazines.

Since then, it has grown to include thousands of links to most types of online media.
