National Endowment for the Humanities

The National Endowment for the Humanities is an independent grant-making agency of the United States government.

It is dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.

The site details its work and offers guidance on how to apply for its grants.

NEH grants typically go to cultural institutions like museums, archives, libraries, colleges, universities, public television, and radio stations, and to individual scholars. The term 'humanities' includes, but is not limited to, the study language, linguistics; literature; history; jurisprudence; philosophy; archaeology; comparative religion; ethics; the history, criticism and theory of the arts amongst others.

The NEH is involved in the creation of a National Digital Newspaper Programme covering the period from 1836 to 1922 in the United States.
