The
League of Canadian Poets is a non-profit arts service organization and
the national association of professional publishing and performing poets
in Canada, according to its website.
Its aim is to enhance the status of poets and to facilitate the teaching
of Canadian poetry at all levels of education and to develop the audience
for poetry.
Founded in 1966 by five poets, the league erves almost 600 members whose
work reflects the regional and cultural diversity of Canada, said the
League.
The League offers membership to all Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.
