Irish
PEN is affiliated to International PEN, a worldwide association of writers.
PEN stands for poets, playwrights, editors, essayists and novelists.
The site offers links to other writing sites, a diary of forthcoming
events and a members’ publication section.
A membership application form may be downloaded from the site.
Since 1998, Irish PEN has annually awarded an honour to an Irish-born
writer who has made an outstanding contribution to Irish literature.
Members of Irish PEN, as well as previous winners nominate and vote
for the candidate.
