CISAC - International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers

CISAC is an organisation comprising 217 authors' societies in 114 countries.

In the wording of CISAC's charter of the author's right it said:"the author's right is based upon the act of creation itself." All that is needed is that a creative work becomes fixed in a tangible form. From that moment on, an author is granted legal protection, the nature of which is provided by copyright law.

The website concerns itself with reports of meetings and committees. An index of member societies requires signing in by the use of a password which seems to be open only to members of societies.

By co-ordinating the work of authors' societies around the world, CISAC said it contributes to the establishment and development of a global network, enabling societies of authors and composers to represent their members all over the world.
