Sisters
in Crime has some 3,600 members in 48 chapters around the world. The association
offers networking, advice and support to mystery authors, otherwise known
on the eastern side of the Atlantic as crime writers.

Membership includes authors, readers, publishers, agents, booksellers
and librarians bound by affection for the genre and support for the women
who write such material, according to the association.
Sisters in Crime was founded by Sara Paretsky and a group of women in
1986 to combat discrimination against women in the mystery field, and
to educate as to inequities in the treatment of female authors.
The comprehensive site covers the association’s current status and
the services provided by Sisters in Crime for members and others alike.
