The PRS is an association of composers, songwriters and music publishers
which exists to collect royalties for the non-dramatic public performance
and broadcasting of their copyright works. PRS is affiliated to similar
societies throughout the world.
Licence fees for the public performance and broadcast of musical works
are collected by the PRS.
MCPS collects and distributes mechanical royalties generated from the
recording of music onto different formats. Income is distributed to their
members - writers and publishers of music.
The MCPS-PRS Alliance manages common activities, services both societies
and is jointly owned by them. The site gives information and contact detail
on both societies.
