The Playwrights' Studio

The Playwrights' Studio in Scotland is a national initiative to engage Scotland's people with new playwriting and to raise the standard of plays for public presentation.

The site is a work in progress and many resources are planned for it, so regular visits are recommended to check on new developments.

The studio will celebrate, promote and develop Scotland's culture of writing for live performance; improving and sustaining artistic quality, raising awareness, and increasing access to new playwriting, according to itself.

In 2001 the Scottish Arts Council contacted some 66 playwrights and other theatre professionals who were unanimous in their support for a playwrights' studio.
