If you are looking for an online dictionary search site, then OneLook® Dictionary Search could be what you are looking for; but be warned it can be addictive.
Mostly aimed at a North American audience, it can nonetheless be used by anybody who speaks English.
An amusing section is a dictionary from another era, which offers translations of American English into English English.
