Contemporary Writers

Contemporary Writers is a searchable database of up-to-date profiles of some of the UK and Commonwealth's most important living writers.

It is a collaboration between the British Council and Booktrust and includes biographies, bibliographies, critical reviews, prizes the authors have won and author photographs.

Where writers are online there are links to the writer’s own website.

The information is searchable by author, genre, nationality, gender, publisher, book title, date of publication, prize name and date.

A long list of authors remains who are to be added to the site, so the advice here is to check back if your favourite writer is not yet listed.
