Ancestors on Board

Writers setting their work in the past will benefit from the National Archives AncestorsOnBoard website.

The site includes passenger lists covering long-distance voyages made from all British ports between 1890 and 1960 and include the ill-fated Titanic which sank in 1912.

Included are migration records and passenger lists containing the names of people leaving ports in the United Kingdom and Ireland for final destinations outside Europe and the Mediterranean.

A website search facility allows a researcher to carry out a person search using the person’s first and last name. A search can be refined by departure port, destination country and destination port.
