RU
the UK's best management writer?
The
inaugural Management Book of the Year competition will celebrate the very
best in management thinking.
And is being
run by the British Library and Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
It aims to raise the profile of the great management writing being produced
by UK authors, according to the promoters.
The competition will focus specifically on management and leadership books
and haa a category dedicated to texts in a digital format.
A recent survey of the UK workforce (2,000 adults surveyed by OnePoll
on behalf of CMI) showed 30 per cent of people had read a management book;
but just five per cent turn to them when they have work issues, suggesting
that managers are struggling to find useful, practical texts, suggested
the promoters of the competition.
A £5,000 cash prize is offered for the winner of the Management
Book of the Year title.
Open to individual authors, publishers and agents, the competition accepts
books that were published between August 1 2009 and July 31, 2010, and
for the digital category, between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2010. Books
can be entered in three competition categories:
Closing date for submissions is July 31,
2010.
