Writing
across a border
A
cross-border scheme is promoting creative writing in counties bordering
the frontier between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Counties involved include: Armagh, Cavan, Derry, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh,
Leitrim, Louth, Monaghan and Tyrone.
The project offers funding for a one-off visit, or residency by a writer
or storyteller to primary and post-primary schools in the ten counties
on either side of the border: Armagh, Cavan, Derry, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh,
Leitrim, Louth, Monaghan, and Tyrone.
Applications are being accepted for the Border Crossings visits and residencies,
which will take place between September 2010 and April 2011.
The Border Crossings Project is made possible through lottery funding
support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
Visits can be divided into separate group sessions of three 45-minute
sessions with different class groups or age levels.
Applications will be decided on a first-come-first served basis, said
the administrators.
Closing date for applications is July 2010.
