Royal
Society Prize for Science Books
The
2010 Royal Society Prize for Science Books will celebrate the best of
2009's new popular science writing for a general adult readership.
Open to science books written for a non-specialist audience the prize
will go to a writer who will receive £10,000. Authors of short listed
books will receive £1,000.
Books submitted for the prize must have been published for the first time
in English during 2009 and be available to buy in the UK.
Seven non-returnable copies of each entry must be submitted to the Royal
Society Prizes for Science Books Thursday 1st April 2010.
The Royal Society celebrates its 350th anniversary in 2010, promoting
a spirit of enquiry, excitement and engagement with science.
Funding challenges ensure a Junior Prize will not be offered this year.
The Society is seeking longer-term support for the awards from 2011 onwards,
it said.
Closing date for entries is April 1, 2010.
