Library
users in Surrey have been given an option of downloading books to their
ereaders without going near a branch library.
The books are available in an electronic format from an online library
of titles straight to home computers, laptops or portable readers.
Audio books will also be available to borrow from the virtual library.
The electronic versions will expire after a given time and it will not
be possible to copy them to another device or send them on to someone
else.
Surrey's ebook service is in the development stage but it is planned that
best seller fiction and a range of non-fiction titles will be available
to begin with.
As well as borrowing ebooks from home, people may go to their local library
and download titles straight to their laptop or portable device.
