Alibi seeks stories about mercy or lack of it
Crime
writers are asked to submit a crime fiction short story to a competition
where the opening line has already been written.
Alibi has teamed up with HarperCollins and Theakstons Old Peculier Crime
Writing Festival, and crime writer Stuart MacBride who has provided the
first line of the story to get writers started.
The opening line is: In my experience, those who beg for mercy seldom
deserve it.
Stories should be between 2,000 and 5,000 words long.
Entries may be submitted online.
Three finalists will win tickets to Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing
Festival, Harrogate (with travel and accommodation included).
A winner will be announced during the weekend and will win a Sony e-reader,
a library of 100 crime books including a signed Stuart MacBride back catalogue
and see their story turned into a special online, downloadable e-edition
by HarperCollins.
Closing date for entries is May 16, 2010.
