First World War Ancestors
Writers
researching the First World War period can now seek their ancestor online
on a British National Archives website.
The site: www. Ancestry.co.uk has put the last batch of surviving First
World War army service and pension records online.
First World War medal index cards can be just as important as service
records for an ancestor search, said the Archive.
Over five million of the cards survive, making them the most complete
listing of those who served in the war. The cards help researchers to
find out about an ancestors' medals, rank, unit and where they served.
Online research signposts provide tips on researching military ancestors
with our research signposts. Good luck with your research!
Service records of officers who served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) during
the First World War are available to search and download now.
