Buxton Poetry Competition 2010


fresh airEntries are being accepted for the Buxton Poetry competition 2010 whose theme is “A Breath of Fresh Air.”

Prizes are £300, £200 or £100.

There is no entry fee for some categories and a fiver for others so check the website for your category..

Poets of all ages are welcome to enter - there are three categories:

Open poetry for poets aged 19 years or more; young people's for budding poets between 12 and 18 years, and children's poetry for the 11 year olds or less.

The competition, run by the Buxton Festival and the University of Derby has inspired more than 3,000 poems since it began in 2007. Entries have been submitted from all over the world including America, New Zealand and Europe, said the promoters.

Closing date is April 1, 2010.
