Guardian
Weekend story
The
Guardian's Weekend magazine for the first time is inviting readers
to submit their stories for the newspaper’s annual summer fiction
issue.
Authors William Boyd and Julie Myerson will judge submissions. They will
look for the most original, gripping and well-crafted pieces of writing,
according to the promoter.
Five runners-up will have their stories published on guardian.co.uk/books.
The prize is that the short story will be published in the annual Guardian
Weekend short fiction special issue in August.
Send a story of no more than 2,000 words. It can be on any theme; but
must be previously unpublished. Only one story per entrant is allowed.
Post to Short Stories, Guardian Weekend, Kings Place, 90 York Way, London
N1 9GU
Or email .
The competition is open to UK residents aged 18 years, or more.
By submitting an entry you give the promoter GNM: permission for your
entry to be published on guardian.co.uk and you grant GNM a non-exclusive,
royalty-free, worldwide licence to republish your competition entry in
electronic format and hard copy for purposes connected with the competition.
The judges' decision will be made on or before July
22, 2009.
Closing date is July 10, 2009.
