Ulysses for £275,000

ulyssesIf it’s June there has to be a Ulysses story, somewhere.

So, if you have a rare first edition of James Joyce’s 1922 novel Ulysses it could sell for as much as £275,000.

That is the highest price recorded for a 20th-century first edition and was paid for the Dubliner’s book by a private buyer in London at an antiquarian book fairs, this week.

Ulysses follows the events of one day in Dublin, June 16, 1904; now known as Bloomsday after the book’s central character Leopold Bloom who wanders through the city on that day.

Lots of people, who were not alive in 1922, or 1904, wander about Dublin on Bloomsday, in period costume.

Some are even believed to have read Ulysses.
