Mere Literary Festival Poetry Competition

writer thinks Entries are being accepted to the open, local and junior sections of the Mere Literary Festival poetry competition.

Write a poem on any topic of no more than 40 lines for a chance to win a cash prize.

Prizes £200; £100; £50, or three runners-up of £15 each.

Entry fees: first poem £3.50 then £2.50, and £1 per junior poem with special discount for block school entries.

The junior section is for an original poem not exceeding 40 lines

Age as at closing date of competition: 11 years and under; 12 – 16 years inclusive.
Any number of entries may be submitted providing the relevant fees are enclosed. No competitor may win more than one prize.

Copyright of material remains with the author but the Mere & District Linkscheme reserve the right to use entries at festival events.

Short-listed entrants and merit awards will be notified by September 30, 2009.

Closing date for entries is July 7, 2009.
