Funny like Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl funnyEntries are being accepted for the second Roald Dahl Funny Prize.

The prize seeks to promote laughter and humour as a feel-good factor by encouraging families to read together and discover the pleasure of funny books, said the organisers.

Awards are made in two categories: The funniest book for children aged six years and less; funniest book for children aged 7–14 years.

The winner of each category will receive £2,500, which will be presented at an awards ceremony in London, in November.

Since Roald Dahl’s death in 1990 his work has not only endured but is still increasing in popularity. His stories are currently available in almost 50 languages.
UK sales alone are more than 50 million books and rising.

The Roald Dahl website attracts two million visitors per year with an online membership of around 200,000 fans.

Closing date for entries is June 29, 2009.
