Four chances to write a story
Meridian
Writing has launched a quarterly competition for short stories of up to
3,000 words for new and published writers, in any genre.
Prizes are: £100, £50 or £25.
The entry fee is £5 per story. Multiple entries are permitted.
Meridian spokesman Andrew Goodman said: “It is our intention at
Meridian Writing to promote the short story and writing in general, and
remunerate authors we feel worthy of such, this includes the initial first,
second or third prize monies each quarter and for said authors to share
in any revenue generated by sales of any anthologies. We have decided
to hold from making a definite statement regarding an anthology until
we determine the level of quality we receive as entries."
If an anthology does go ahead, the promoter has estimated a payment to
each author of approx. 0.15 GBP per published story per anthology sold.
This figure may, depending on market factors, increase or decrease accordingly,
said Goodman.
Closing date for the next competition is June
30, 2009.
