Sixth annual Sean O’Faolain
short story competition

Ní Chonchúir is the judge for the 6th Annual Sean O’Faolain
Short Story Competition.
Sponsored by the Munster Literature Centre, the annual short story competition
is dedicated to Sean O’Faolain who was one of Ireland’s most
accomplished story writers.
Main prizes: €1,500, or €500 and publication in the literary
biannual Southword.
Four other shortlisted entries will be selected for publication in Southword
and receive a fee of €100.
Entry fees are €10 per entry.
Open to original unpublished short stories in the English language stories
which must be no longer than 3,000 in length.
The story may be on any subject, in any style by a writer living anywhere
in the world.
Entries should be typed. The entrant’s contact details must be on
a separate piece of paper.
Multiple entries are permitted. No entry form is required.
Post: The Munster Literature Centre, Frank O'Connor House, 84 Douglas
Street, Cork, Ireland.
Email entries as
a word document; but include the story and cover letter as separate documents
in the same email with the subject heading of SOF 2008 Entry.
Winners will be announced at the International Frank O’Connor Festival
of the Short Story in Cork in September. Winners will be invited to read
their prize winning stories at the festival.
Closing date for entries is July 31, 2008.
