Be a singer be a writer
The
popular chanteuse Miss Kyle Minogue has become a knight in the French
Order of Arts and Letters.
The award was to be presented to her by the French Minister of Culture
and Communications at a ceremony in Paris on May 5.
She said: “I am deeply honoured to be recognised in this way. French
culture has influenced me greatly and I have always had colossal respect
for the arts and people of France”.
The Chevalier dans L’ordre des Arts et Lettres was awarded to Minogue
for her “contribution to the enrichment of French culture”.
The Australian singer joins Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan and T. S. Eliot
who were honoured before her by being so knighted by the French republic.
Meanwhile, Ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is writing a series of children's
books, and has reportedly recorded the series' theme song.
Ginger Spice agreed a six-book publishing deal with Macmillan to chronicle
the adventures of Ugenia Lavender, a 9-year-old girl who balances everyday
school life with solving mysteries.
Halliwell has a two-year–old daughter called Bluebell Madonna, and
began writing the books during her pregnancy.
Madonna, the singer, also writes books.
