Enright wins again

Anne Enright, Trevor Brennan, Roddy Doyle, Julia Kelly, Brendan O’Brien and Anita Notaro were winners of the 2008 Irish Book Awards.

Diarmaid Ferriter’s non-fiction book Judging Dev won all three categories in which the title was nominated.

Enright’s Man Booker prize winning novel The Gathering won the Hughes & Hughes Irish Novel of the Year Award.

Roddy Doyle who won the Booker Prize in 1993 for Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha and who was shortlisted for the 1991 Booker Prize for The Van won the senior category in the children’s section with Wilderness.

Irish Novel of the Year: The Gathering by Anne Enright (Cape)
Irish Non-Fiction Book of the Year: Judging Dev by Diarmaid Ferriter (Royal Irish Academy)
Irish Popular Fiction Book of the Year (Public Vote): Take A Look At Me Now by Anita Notaro (Bantam Press)
Irish Sports Book of the Year: Trevor Brennan: Heart and Soul by Trevor Brennan with Gerry Thornley (Red Rock Press)
Irish Children’s Book of the Year: Senior: Wilderness by Roddy Doyle (Scholastic)
Junior: The Story of Ireland by Brendan O’Brien (O’Brien Press)
