No need to be Scottish to write

EdinburghEntrants need have no connection whatsoever to Scotland to pen a story for the HISSAC writing competition.

The organisers said they actively encourage writers to enter, no matter where they live.
HISSAC is the Highland & Islands Short Story Association, which seeks to lend support to writers and which has members from all over the world enrolled.

Prizes: £300, or two of £50.

Entry fee £4 per entry or £10 for 3. The maximum word count is 2,500 words per story.

No theme is set; but the organisers like unusual stories, but draw the line at accepting stories for children.

No entry form is required but the author’s identity or contact details must not appear on any submission but be supplied on a separate cover sheet.

Closing date: July 31, 2008
