A Writer's Earnings
Authors
and writers come 77th in the pay league published by the Office of National
Statistics, according to the Writers Guild in Great Britain.
It reported that official sources estimate there were 11,000 writers,
making a mean gross annual pay in 2005 of £32,296 – up from
£30,198 the year before.
That’s £621 per week in a 52-week year.
The Guild said it is not too sure about the reliability of the official
statistics and will later this year carry out a survey to discover its
members’ real earnings.
